The Shopping Cart and the Heart
I pulled into the parking lot in search of a parking space. I noticed a couple of shopping carts in one of the spaces, so I pulled into the space next to it.
My immediate thought was, “I hope those carts don’t roll over and hit my truck.” It wasn’t windy so I deemed it an acceptable risk and I exited my vehicle.
Immediately a car tried to pull into the cart ridden spot next to me (he hadn’t seen the carts ahead of time.) I walked behind him and headed into the store. I went inside and got a couple of items. It was a quick trip.
I walked back to my truck and noticed something. A shopping cart… wedged between my vehicle and the vehicle in front of me. The driver of the car from earlier had moved it there, I assume.
I got in my truck. I was angry.
I thought “How could this person do this? It could have damaged my vehicle! I'll wait for him to come outside so I can say something!
Immediately I told my mind to stop and focus on the peace and love of The Holy Spirit inside of me.
I got out of my truck and pushed the rogue cart to the cart return.
“This person is probably a great person.”
“We are all in this together.”
“We all have this curse of sin.”
“I forgive him and I forgive myself.”
“I am at peace. I am not angry.”
“I hope to see him in the next life.”
I leave the parking lot and head home.
I was pretty close to my house when I saw two large fast food bags on the road, directly in my path. Fries were scattered everywhere. I swerved out of the way and passed by.
“Someone will pick that up. Right? Would the city do that?”
Something tugged at me to go back and get it. So I did. I drove back around and threw it into the back of my truck and I headed home.
Now I’m here writing this blog. I hope you enjoyed this story and I hope you know you aren’t alone. There is hope. He is with you. He loves you. Surrender to him.
God bless!
